312 EDGE

312 EDGE is a brand identity built from three digits: a monogram, a wide EDGE wordmark, the horizontal lockup that joins them, and a pattern. The 3, the 1 and the 2 had to read as digits and still hold together as one form, on their own and repeated across a surface.

The mark is drawn on an isometric grid. Every edge is vertical or runs at 30°; the main bar, the bars of the 3 and the 2, the gaps and the inner negative spaces each keep one measure, and the three digits close into a single hexagon. The only curve is a small corner on the outer arms.

Repeated on the same lattice, the hexagon becomes a pattern with no seam, printed or pressed. On the cover of EDGE’s field notes and over photography, the wordmark keeps the monogram’s weight and its axis.

The original construction sheet: ten artboards building the 312 on the isometric grid, with the measurement notes
The cover of EDGE’s field notes, and the lockup over a photograph of a cow among wild flowers
The mark close: the crown of the 1, the gap, the arm and slot of the 2, the isometric grid faint behind it
The pattern twice: pressed into tiles and photographed, and drawn in the same outline
